Why Don't We

Long time, no see aye? I can explain. In September I moved up to uni to study Fashion management and marketing and along with my miniscule bedroom came a minimal amount places to shoot photos for my blog. As you can probably tell I am not yet someone who is happy to whip out my tripod and camera in the middle of a path to take photos of myself (I just can’t handle the awkward onlookers thinking that I’m going a little too far for what they may think, is purely for a new Facebook profile picture).

On to the post.

So, mother’s day is a while from now, but I’m gonna talk about mothers. In no offence to all those lovely mums out there, we all know that if we were to rummage through our mums wardrobes we will spend a good amount of that time wondering how some of the items even found their way in there. But, we also all know, don’t go judging too early, because like that cute vintage shop on the corner, you may find, after a little rummage, that silk scarf you have wanted for years, or in my case recently, a nice pair of knee high, velour boots to walk you through this Autumn.

I realise that thigh high boots are currently reigning on the shoes to buy wishlists, but thanks to the likes of Valentino and Louis Vuitton, knee highs aren’t too far off the radar either.

With Autumn comes hours of Paulo Nutini, Tom Odell and James Bay. Here's another one to add to the mix, Leo Stannard . He hasn't been around for long but for me, his voice is up there with George Ezra's, and I absolutely love that mans voice.
His music is certainly something you can have a sing along to as well. Woop.

All The Time

Rummaging through your wardrobe and discovering an item you used to love gives a similar buzz to rummaging through cute vintage shops and discovering that adorable silk scarf that on lazy days you throw on to make your outfit feel complete - or as I did at Reading, wrap around your head so passers by can't see the dirty mess your hair is in. This handbag used to be by my side 7 days a week, 12 hours a day. I came across it in the Renewal section of Urban Outfitters, when feeling like an indie kid and shopping in Urban Outfitters was all the rage. Yes, some may say it looks like the ugly furniture your great grandparents had in their living room on their cushions or curtains when you were younger, but hell, who cares, it's adorable.

Skirt (Zara)

Bag (Urban Outfitters)

Lipstick (Chanel (La Sensuelle)

Tshirt (Zara - in stock)

Boots (Zara - in stock)

So, are you a little addicted to MIC too? I'm thinking I'm not the only one caught up in it. Not only do I find the bad acting, seriously set up scenes and drama great, the music, as you probably know, is pretty damn good too. I must've Music ID at least four songs during the last episode. One I came across was this by Bahamas - a Toronto based solo artist, Afie Jurvanen, great name, huh?

Meet Me There

Staple items seem to be the thing that are impossible to find. I will never understand why high street stores don't provide us with well manufactured basics.
This polka dot denim shirt, for example, was my alternative find for a perfect denim shirt that you can throw on with some cut offs or jeans and be set to go. Which in this case was exactly what I did after work, ready to grab some lunch and spend the evening at an outdoor cinema.

Admittedly, slow, singer/songwriter music is what tends to fill your playlists come Autumn. But to be ready for almost autumnal days like this, you still need a good stock of this genre to get you through the day. Well, I've found another to add to your list; Nick Mulvey – Meet Me There
You may recognise his voice. Maybe you've heard his song Cucurucu. A song that no matter how hard you try, you cannot pronounce 'cucuracu' the first few times you listen to the track, and until you really read the word on paper - I think I've only just got it.
Enjoy!
